Need of data science & what is it?

Let’s start with a team called Analytics, So what is Analytics?.

“Analytics is the discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data”.

So, what is data?

“Data is any character / information that has been gathered. It can be anything like text, numbers, pictures, sound, or video.”

Data is growing exponentially each year. According to some recent report, currently the whole world is generating roughly 2. 5 quintillion bytes, that is 2. 3 trillion gigabytes per day, and with this rate, the world will generate approximately 40 zettabytes, that is 43 trillion gigabytes of data by the year 2020 itself.

ok.so from where the data is getting generated?

Data is getting generated from multiple sources such as marketing, Airlines, healthcare, sales, and automation. Data is also coming from various social networks in the form of tweets, posts, videos or images. It is also getting generated through internet connected devices also known as Internet of Things.

But what would be the data? If we cannot extract some value out of it, it is of no use. right ?

So here comes data science into the picture.
